ASHANTI CENTRAL GHANA CONFERENCE
The Ashanti Central Ghana Conference (ASCG) was established in the South Central Ghana Conference (SCGC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This reorganization stemmed from Action No. 007/12, passed by the SCGC Executive Committee, which aimed to restructure the conference into three fields. Specifically, the action: “VOTED:
a ) To reorganize the Conference (South Central Ghana Conference) into three (3) fields.
b ) To set up a seven-man strategic committee headed by the Conference Secretary to work on the details of the re-organization
c ) To cause the new fields to be known and called;
i. South Central Ghana Conference
ii. Ashanti Central Administrative Field and
iii. Ashanti South Administrative Field
d) To appoint officers, leaders and working committee for the new fields”. Initially, in March 2014, the SCGC The Executive Committee implemented a reorganization into two fields: SCGC and The Ashanti South Administrative Unit. However, after receiving guidance from elders of the Division and the Union, it was decided to establish two distinct conferences: the Ashanti Central Ghana
Conference and the Ashanti South Ghana Conference.
During the initial reorganization, the Ashanti Central Administrative Unit comprised the districts of Ashtown, New Tafo, Yennyawoso-Anyarno, Airport, Kenyasi, Poano, Antoakrom, Manso Adubia, Datano,
Jacobu, and Fiankoma. The administration and working committee executed their responsibilities with
excellence. All districts within the Administrative Unit collaborated effectively and provided full support. To establish a strong financial foundation for the newly created Administrative Unit, churches were asked to contribute funds. Many churches in the Manso Area (now part of the Ashanti South Ghana Conference) and Aboabo Church, despite facing financial challenges themselves, responded promptly and made generous contributions. In early August 2014, the Union conducted a pre-inspection to evaluate the Unit’s readiness for an official inspection by the West-Central Africa Division. Following In this assessment, the Union endorsed the Administrative Unit and encouraged its continued progress. In mid-August 2014, the WAD Inspection Team, consisting of Pr. Onaolapo Ajibade (WAD Secretary), Elder Boadi Mensah (Assistant Treasurer), and Pr. Daniel Opoku Boateng (Ministerial Secretary), arrived for the official inspection. They were highly impressed with the Administrative Unit’s performance and acknowledged the support of veteran elders from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ash Town. 21
Following the inspection, on November 1, 2014, the WAD Executive Committee, during its year-end meeting, voted to grant conference status to the Administrative Unit, with an official commencement date of January 2015.
However, after further reorganization, the Union decided to exclude the Manso Area Districts and instead incorporate the Effiduase Area Districts and the Asawase District.
The newly formed Conference comprised the following districts: Ashtown, New Tafo, Yennyawoso-Anyarno, Airport, Kenyasi, Asawase, Asokore, Asamang, Juaben,
Effiduase, Kumawu, and Senchi. Subsequently, the Antoa District was carved out from the Kenyasi District, increasing the total number of districts to thirteen (13).
ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTORS FOR THE ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT
The elected officers for the Ashanti Central Ghana Administrative Unit were Pastor Akwasi Boateng (Director), Pastor Gabriel Kofi Kwateng (Under Secretary), and Pastor Ernest Owusu Akyaw (Under Treasurer).
A capable working committee was selected to support the administration in carrying out its duties. These individuals held the mantle until handing over to the first elected administration and executive committee. Their names were: Pr. Akwasi Boateng – President (Chairman), Pr.
Gabriel Kofi Kwateng – Executive Secretary, Pr. Ernest Owusu-Akyaw – Treasurer, Eld. Yaw Boakye-Dankwa, Eld. Edmond Adjei Boadu, Pr. H. E. Diaba, Pr. Oti Boateng, Madam Lydia A. Forkuo, Pr.
